The temperature-humidity index is used to measure the effect of temperature and humidity on livestock performance to find out the intensity of thermal stress of the herd.
When the THI is higher than 72, the animal experiences heat stress.
When THI is higher than 78, milk production is affected.
When THI exceeds 82, raw milk production decreases significantly, which may lead to animal death.
